Don’t be afraid of XY: Tackling Sex Chromosome Genetics

We thank the Biological Sex Differences Working Group, together with the Early Career Committee of the ISGC, to host a well attended Virtual Symposium entitled:

Don’t be afraid of XY: Tackling Sex Chromosome Genetics

Which took take place on November 19 at 3:00-5:00 PM CET.

We covered talks by Dr. Sarah Gagliano (Departments of Medicine and Neurosciences, Université de Montréal), Dr. Banabithi Bose (Department of Genetic Medicine, Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University), Dr. Taru Tukianen (University of Eastern Finland), and Dr. Aoxing Liu (Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard).

ISGC Virtual Mini-Workshop: Post-GWAS analyses part 2

Online: post-GWAS analyses

2025-04-18

We look back at a successful 2-part virtual workshop on post-GWAS analyses with a peak in attendance of 16 participants.

On April 18, 2025, the Early Career Researcher Committee hosted a virtual hands-on workshop on post-GWAS analyses. Instructor Muralidharan Sargurupremraj, Assistant professor from the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio, went over the theory and practice of Mendelian randomization analyses.

Thank you for participating, and thanks to Dr. Sargurupremraj for the valuable knowledge!

The 10th ISGC Virtual Mini-Workshop: “Neuroimaging-Genetics Interface in Stroke – Where We are Now and Where We are Going?”

Zoom

May 17 2022

We look back at a wonderful Virtual Mini-Workshop. We had an extraordinary line-up of guest speakers including a keynote address by Dr. Jorge Sepulcre-Bernad, MD, PhD, Assoc Professor of Radiology, Harvard Medical School; Mind/Brain/Behavior, Harvard University.

The 9th ISGC Virtual Mini-Workshop: Translational Genomics in Stroke

Zoom

March 10, 2022

Thank you for the 9th Mini-Symposium, hosted by Tom Van Agtmael and Chris Anderson. This hot topic was of interest by many ISGC members. Guest speakers included: Alice Chen-Plotkin, University of Pennsylvania; Tom Van Agtmael, University of Glasgow; Hyacinth I. Hyacinth, University of Cincinnati, and Nathalie Beaufort, LMU Munich, and Maria Suciu, Regeneron Pharmaceuticals.

The 8th ISGC Virtual Mini-Workshop on: Early Onset Stroke

Zoom

December 14, 2021

The 8th ISGC Virtual Mini-Workshop on Early Onset Stroke was held on December 14, 2021 (Europe/the Americas); December 15, 2021(East Asia/Australia).

There is ample evidence that the genetic contribution is greater for stroke at younger compared to older ages. This mini-workshop emphasized monogenic contributions to early onset stroke, and presented preliminary results from a sex-specific early-onset GWAS and an update on mechanistic studies of prothrombotic factors in early-onset stroke.
This mini-workshop was hosted by: Jukka Putaala, Frank-Erik de Leeuw, Patricia Musolino, Steven Kittner.
